Les Shephard recently founded NEXAS: Energy – Water Solutions, dedicated to providing clean, reliable and resilient water and energy supplies to communities of need in the U. S. and elsewhere. Shephard is also affiliated with the Department of Physics, University of La Laguna, Tenarife Spain as a Research Associate pursuing clean energy – safe water solutions for island states. Previously, Shephard spent 10 years at the University of Texas, San Antonio as the McDermott Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Founding Director for the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute. Dr. Shephard also served as the Vice President of Energy, Water and Nonproliferation at Sandia National Laboratories where he was actively engaged in pursuing technology solutions that address our 21stst century energy, water, security and environmental challenges and in leading programs that contribute to economic prosperity and global stability in regions of high strategic importance to the United States.
